The Miras International School in Astana  was opened on September 2, 1999. The School was authorized for the Primary Years Programme (РYР), Middle Years Programme (МYР) and Diploma Programme (DP) by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), and accredited by the following international educational organizations: the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS). The School was also authorized by the University of Cambridge for teaching and preparing students for IGCSE exam (International General Certificate of Secondary Education – an international certificate of secondary education) and is a UNESCO associated school.

The School’s educational model is built on integration of the national educational standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan and International Baccalaureate Programmes that provides an opportunity for selecting diverse techniques and approaches to learning. This allows organizing an educational process with a focus on child development, fostering not only general learning skills and abilities but shaping personal values and attitudes in students. The School program is based on the three priority tenants of the contemporary educational concept: holistic approach to lifelong learning, communicative competency and intercultural awareness. A distinctive feature of the program is organizing an exploratory and interdisciplinary project activity of students.

The School graduates are successfully studying in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, China, USA, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Spain, Italy, etc.
